Helen Humphreys Reading at the UTSC Library

2015 UTSC Writer in residence - Helen Humphryes

UTSC's Chief Librarian, Victoria Owen, is pleased to welcome award-winning author Helen Humphreys to the UTSC Library for a reading from her latest work, The River, on Thursday, October 8th, 2015.

A past winner of the City of Toronto Book award, and the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize, Helen Humphreys is visiting UTSC this term as the campus' latest Writer in Residence.

Referring to her 2000 novel, Afterimage, reviewer Merilyn Simonds wrote in Quill and Quire, "It is daunting to review a book as accomplished as Helen Humphreys’ second novel... One scarcely knows how to do justice to prose of such sharp beauty, characters of such astonishing complexity, settings so perfectly particular, [and] themes that sweep like flame across human experience..."

Please join us on Thursday, October 8th in the UTSC Library Reading Room for an hour of literature and discussion. Light refreshments will be served beginning at 3:45, with remarks to begin at 4:00.
