Join residents of Kingston-Galloway/Orton Park and members of the U of T Scarborough community to celebrate active living at Saturday’s East Scarborough Run for Fun.

The event celebrates the ongoing partnership between the Kingston-Galloway/Orton Park (KGO) neighbourhood and UTSC. The run’s main objective is to support opportunities for play and physical activity for children and youth in the Kingston-Galloway/Orton Park (KGO) and Mornelle Court communities. It’s an inclusive way to engage in physical activity together and to raise awareness and funds for continued community development through play and sports-based activities, through initiatives supported jointly by KGO and UTSC.

The event features a 5 km run/walk/roll starting at the East Scarborough Storefront, continuing on along the trail by the creek and ending in the Valley at UTSC, 130 Old Kingston Road. This free event is open people of all ages, abilities and neighborhoods Registration begins at 10 a.m., with light refreshments and live music and the walk/run/roll begins at 11 a.m.

Participants and supporters will have the chance to raise funds or donate if they wish. Funds raised will be used to support initiatives developed in partnership with the UTSC, under the Our Healthy Community initiative, through a joint decision making process.

UTSC Principal Bruce Kidd, an educator, community builder and Olympian, has been named as the Special Ambassador for the run. He has a lifetime of experience at the University of Toronto and volunteer leadership in Canadian and international sport, community and culture.

Register for the run online, or in person at The Storefront, 4040 Lawrence Ave. E.
