Green the Campus: Plant on a Slant Event

PLANT ON A SLANT Wednesday, October 3 from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m.

Help to save the slope into the valley on the hill behind the H-Wing patio. All are welcome to participate in a planting of native shrubs and grasses. Some of the shrubs to be planted may include Serviceberries and Staghorn Sumach, and grasses may include Indian Grass and Switch Grass. Meet on the H-wing patio at noon.

The arrival of fall means a change of colours and a drop in temperature, but it also marks the start of another year of environmental initiatives at the University of Toronto Scarborough.

The Green the Campus efforts are continuing as part of a partnership between the University of Toronto Scarborough and Evergreen, a non-profit organization that builds the relationship between nature, culture and community in urban spaces.

Several events are planned for the weeks ahead. Committee members urge faculty, staff and students to volunteer for an event, noting that people can get  some fresh air and exercise while beautifying the campus.

Gloves and equipment will be provided, and volunteers can sign up on the campus intranet.

Volunteers can sign up via the intranet.
