Student Consultations for Mental Health Strategy

Over the past year the University of Toronto has developed a Mental Health Strategy. That work culminated in the Fall 2014 with the Report of the Provostial Advisory Committee on Student Mental Health publication. As we look to next steps and implementation, we are again committed to engaging students in discussion and consultation.

As part of a tri-campus effort, the Health & Wellness Centre at UTSC will be organizing a series of Community Consultations that will focus on gathering feedback from as many student leaders from UTSC organizations, associations and groups as possible.
If you are a student and want to contribute your voice on the Mental Health Strategy, please read the following report, and sign up to attend one of the following sessions to provide your feedback.

The following are the questions that will be discussed in each session:

1. You’ve all had a chance to read the Advisory Committee’s Report on Student Mental Health, tell us what you found meaningful to you as a student at the University, and where did you see a role for students in terms of implementation of some of the recommendations?

2. The Report identifies building inclusive and supportive learning environments as a priority. Can you tell us about an experience you’ve had - a best practice within the classroom - that contributed to building community or helping you to feel supported academically?

3. A key commitment in the Report is to ongoing evaluation. We’d like to hear from you, how will we know that improvements have been made, what will better look like, and how will we measure it?

4. Improved systems of communication is a key theme throughout the Report. What do you think will be the best way to communicate updates and critical information to students as implementation rolls out?
