Open House and appStar Award Ceremony 2013

The Hub is proud to host its annual fall Open House and appStar Award Ceremony.

This year the Open House will feature Jeanny Yao as a guest speaker. Jeanny has been recognized by Maclean's magazine as one of "Canada's Future Leaders Under 25", and has presented her research at the 2013 TED conference in Long Beach, California, reaching almost 1,000,000 viewers. She will be speaking on the challenges posed to innovators in undertaking innovation.

The Open House will also feature some of the state-of-the-art innovations that students have been working on in The Hub, including social media technologies, novel file sharing systems, and new innovative digital utilities and platforms.

Come learn about INIT and its plans for helping event planners at UTSC's clubs, and JustPlay, a utility launched to help make gym bookings with your friends at UTSC. Hear about the novel challenges facing Lyra, in its plans towards making an impact in the music industry, and how StageIt is promising great things for Drama. Learn the latest on Mapian as it prepares to launch, or Contestry as it completes it initial development. Come learn about SALT, an initiative for informing users about Scarborough cuisine alongside of UTSC's Culinaria.

With words from some of the leading clubs working on innovation and entrepreneurship: Enactus, C3Inspire, NSpire and HackHub.

And of course, the Open House will feature the results and winners of this year's appStar contest.

Come help celebrate the efforts of UTSC's young innovators and entrepreneurs.
