The Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (TPASC) will open its doors just in time for the beginning of the new semester at UTSC.

UTSC’s Department of Athletics and Recreation has already moved into TPASC and will open on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 for comprehensive tours, membership sign-up, and program registration. For athletic and recreational use the facility will open at 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 8.

“We’ve finished moving in and can’t wait to welcome our students, faculty and staff inside for a tour and a look at the programs that will be available on Sept. 8,” says Scott McRoberts, UTSC’s director of athletics and recreation.

TPASC hours of operation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday Sept. 2 to Friday, Sept. 5, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6 and Sunday Sept. 7. Beginning Monday, Sept. 8 regular hours of operation for the facility will be from 5 a.m. to midnight, with the aquatics area running from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. and the field house from 6 a.m. to midnight.

TPASC has two Olympic-sized swimming pools, a dive tank with several towers, four gymnasiums, three multi-use teaching studios, a full fitness centre with weight room and cardio theatre and rock-climbing wall. The facility was designed and constructed to adhere to the guidelines and sustainability principles of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system in order to achieve LEED certification.
