Topic: Does the quality of public goods supplied by local governments affect property tax compliance?

Economic theory suggests that if citizens observe improved signals of government capacity in managing public funds they will update their beliefs about government quality. This makes them more likely to comply with property taxes because they expect to get more out of their tax contribution. We test and confirm this theory using property tax data and rollout of first time street asphalting in Mexico.
