"Shakespeare's Nigga": From the Block to the Stage

Governor General's Literary Award nominee Joseph Jomo Pierre will speak at UTSC on October 30

The Department of Arts, Culture and Media (ACM) is pleased to invite you to its first ACM Speaker Series event of the 2013-2014 season, an artist talk with Joseph Jomo Pierre entitled "Shakespeare's Nigga": From the Block to the Stage.

In his talk, Mr. Pierre, a Toronto-based playwright and actor will discuss issues of representation in Canadian theatre. Fueled by a desire to represent the un- and underrepresented, he will chart his development as a playwright and the hurdles he encountered along the way. He will also discuss his latest play, Shakespeare's Nigga, which was recently nominated for the Governor General's Literary Award.
