U of T celebrates its retirees

On May 28, 2013, those faculty and staff members retiring this year from the University of Toronto were celebrated at a ceremony held in the Debates Hall at Hart House.

Of this year's group of 156 retirees, 51 individuals have worked at the University for more than 30 years, and 25 individuals having worked at U of T for more than 40 years. A list of 2012 - 2013 retirees is available here.

Angela Hildyard, Vice-President, Human Resources & Equity welcomed the honourees, as well as their family members and colleagues.

"[T]hank you for sharing such a big part of your lives here and for dedicating your careers to advancing the academic mission of one of the world's greatest universities," she said. "Each one of you has played an important part in making the University what it is today."

In his first year as Chancellor, Michael Wilson then addressed the group, presenting the individuals with a certificate of service and posing for photos.

Following the formal presentation, a reception was held in the Music Room where the group was treated to refreshments and a performance from the Faculty of Music.
