TCard+ coming to UTSC

A new and improved TCard will let students pay for meals, printing and more, all with a swipe of their university ID.

The new TCard+ will allow UTSC students to user their existing TCards to pay for food, vending and printing services on campus, and could eventually expand to other campus goods and services.

The TCard+ system will make use of the magnetic stripe on the student IDs, and allow them to be used in a way similar to a debit card. Students will be able to add money to their TCard+ accounts online, and to track how much they have left and how they have spent their money.

Every food vendor and vending machine on campus will have a terminal that accepts the TCard+. Students on the university meal plans will also use the TCard+ to make payments.

In addition, printing services will move from the old payment system that used the smart chip embedded in the student ID, and instead will use the TCard+ system for payment.

UTSC will run a pilot project this summer with the new payment system, and will roll it out completely in the fall. A similar plan will be available for staff and faculty later in the fall.
