The Second City Comedy Troup comes to U of T Scarborough - March 15

The SCSU, in partnership with Moxie's Classic Grill, is pleased to welcome the Second City Comedy Troup to U of T Scarborough on March 15 at 6:00 pm at the Bluff’s stage area in the Student Centre.

Tickets will be available at the SCSU office, SL -108, starting on March 5 for $4.00 each. Valid university identification is required.

Overview & History:

The Second City is a long-running improvisational comedy troupe based in the Old Town neighborhood of Chicago, with offshoot troupes in other cities, most notably Toronto. Due to the increasing popularity of improv, additional Second City clubs have recently opened in other cities, including Novi, MI, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New York.

A number of well-known performers, including Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, and Steve Carell, began their careers as part of the historic troupe and later moved on to television and movie work. In the mid-1970s, Second City Chicago became a source of cast members for the Saturday Night Live television show, which borrowed many of the writing and performing techniques pioneered by Second City and other improv groups. Shortly thereafter members of the Toronto troupe created the "SCTV" television show.

This event is presented courtesy of Moxie’s Classic Grill; located at Scarborough Town Centre, 300 Borough Drive in Scarborough, ON – just 15 minutes west of campus on the 38 Rouge Hill bus.
