Children of UTSC staff and faculty shadowed their parents, danced, watched science experiments, and even had fun learning about event planning at the 11th Take Our Daughters & Sons to Work Day.

“For us it’s an opportunity to let the kids see what their parents do, and what the university does. They’re surprised to see what goes on,” says Tracy Curran, manager, special projects in financial services, who helped organize the event.

Forty-seven children between the ages of eight and 12 attended the event this year, overseen by 16 volunteers. Principal Franco Vaccarino addressed the children, who also went on tours of the facilities, saw a science demonstration, and spent the afternoon in athletics events.

Curran says that one of the highlights was an event planning activity by Amorell Saunders N’Daw, which included lessons in how to plan a birthday party.
