Nature Poetry and Essay reading by Maureen Scott Harris

Maureen Scott Harris will share excerpts of her work April 10 at the Koffler Reserve.

The Koffler Scientific Reserve at Jokers Hill is pleased to host a Petry Reading by our innaugural Artist-in-Residence, Maureen Harris.  Maureen will be reading excertps from her nature essays as well as her poetry. The Reading will be in the Moriyama Gazebo at 7:30 pm on April 10.

An  award-winning essayist and poet, Maureen is calling the Reserve home base for the winter as she works on several writing projects. Chief of these is a book on Tasmania, which she visited several years ago. But Maureen is also here to explore the KSR site and to get to know the students, researchers and volunteers. “I’m curious about places and the meaning they have for people, and interested in different ways of knowing (eg, science, poetry, walking, observing… )” she has said. “I’m asking myself large questions: What would it be like to feel at home in the world—to experience myself as part of and in relationship with the larger natural systems and processes that surround me? Can humans reimagine themselves into a different relationship with the Earth?”

The event will be held at the Koffler Reserve's scenic Moriyama Gazebo. The event is free, but space is limited, and reservations are required. For Directions, Reservations, and more Information, please visit http://ksr.utoronto.ca/Poetry_2013.
