Writers' Space

Want help with you writing? Come to Writers' Space!

Who:  undergraduates who like to work on their writing assignments with other students

What: a weekly writing group where people can bring assignments and work-in-progress to get feedback, advice, or help with brainstorming ideas

When: Wednesdays, Jan 30 - April 3 (Reading Week closed) 2:00 - 3:00 pm

Where: BV 361

Why: Writers' Space offers a fun, relaxed environment for getting and giving help on writing.  If you have trouble with writer's block or writing anxiety, this group can build your confidence and help you meet your goals.  If you enjoy exchanging feedback with others and seeing that other people value your advice or ideas for their work, this is a writing group you'll enjoy.

Some people come with a paper due soon (e.g., in a few hours) for last-minute suggestions, while others bring an assignment they'd like help on getting started.  Writing at every stage in between is welcome, and the group discusses all types of writing.  No special expertise is required: students who come to Writers' Space range from first year to fifth year.  A writing instructor is also on hand to contribute advice and serve as a mentor for the group.

For more information, contact Sheryl Stevenson (sstevenson@utsc.utoronto.ca).  Please write to us if you're interested in Writers' Space but can't meet on Wednesdays from 2-3.  With sufficient demand, we will set up a meeting on another day.

Writers' Space is sponsored by The Writing Centre, the Centre for Teaching and Learning, and AccessAbility.
