UTSC bounds into Boundless


UTSC will continue its dramatic transformation as it joins the university in the most ambitious giving campaign every by a Canadian university.

The University of Toronto is conducting a record-setting $2 billion campaign, based on the twin pillars of preparing global citizens and meeting global challenges. At a VIP event in the Miller Lash House Nov. 14, UTSC will announce its own ambitious fundraising goal.

“As an integral part of U of T’s tri-campus teaching and research powerhouse, UTSC is uniquely positioned to contribute to the university’s bold vision,” says Professor Franco Vaccarino, UTSC Principal and U of T Vice-President. “Our focus on new and emerging areas of scholarship, as well as our culture of active partnerships with the community, are integral to the university’s research and learning mission.”

UTSC has undergone a dramatic expansion in recent years, growing to its current 500 faculty and 10,225 students, and beginning a long-term expansion onto the North Campus with the completion of the Instructional Centre.

Among the major initiatives of the campaign will be support for a new clinical mental health program, a new environmental research centre, international development studies, and a variety of experiential learning efforts.

“These initiatives are fantastic, and build on the tremendous strengths we have at UTSC. The campaign will allow us to lift these programs to the next level,” says Georgette Zinaty, executive director, development and alumni relations.

Boundless will propel UTSC’s development as a hub of visionary scholarship, research and innovation, and assist in the mission of preparing students to become tomorrow’s global leaders.
