Global Media and “Innocence of Muslims”

On October 9th, Arts & Events Programming will continue the Media Studies Film & Speaker series with an informative panel discussion, Global Media and Innocence of Muslims.

Moderated by Michael Petit, the Program Director of the Media Studies program at UTSC, the panel will feature the following experts:

  • Ruyoun Bai, Assistant Professor, Media Studies, University of Toronto Scarborough
  • Jeffrey Dvorkin, Director, Joint UTSC-Centennial Program in Journalism
  • Gray Graffam, The Hub and Media Studies, University of Toronto Scarborough
  • Raja G. Khouri, President, Canadian Arab Institute and Commissioner, Ontario Human Rights Commission
  • Rick Salutin, Journalist and Toronto Star columnist


Together, they will discuss the controversial film and its implications for media, journalism, and contemporary culture within the context of globalization. The film itself will not be shown.

The panel discussion will begin at 5:30pm on October 9, 2012 in room AA 112 of the Arts & Administration Building. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend. However, due to limited seating, we ask that guests RSVP online at http://mds2-utsc.eventbrite.ca.
