Arts & Events Programming, in collaboration with the Media Studies program at UTSC, is pleased to present John Carpenter's cult classic They Live as part a new Media Studies Film & Speaker Series.

The film will be shown on October 2, 2012 at 5:00pm in room AA 112. Everyone is welcome to attend and admission is free. However, due to limited seating, we ask that you RSVP online to reserve your spot.

Written and directed by John Carpenter, the film stars former professional wrestler "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and Keith David. It tells the story of an unemployed drifter named "Nada" (Piper) who finds a pair of sunglasses that allow him to see the "real world" - a world filled with citizens bombarded with media and government messages like "Stay Asleep", "No Imagination", "Submit to Authority". The glasses also allow "Nada" to discover that the ruling class are really aliens in disguise and conducting a massive campaign to keep citizens subdued.

The Media Studies Film & Speaker Series at UTSC is generously supported by MBNA, TD Insurance, and Manulife Financial.
