UTSC Farmers' Market back and better than ever

The UTSC Farmers’ Market is back again for another season featuring a lineup of familiar vendors with a few fresh surprises to liven the mix.

"This year we are mixing some of our longstanding vendors with new vendors that I'm sure the UTSC and wider community will really enjoy,” says Billi Jo Cox, project coordinator for UTSC’s Office of Business and Administration.

In addition to fresh food vendors, there will be live food demonstrations by professional chefs, samples, recipe ideas and even live music on certain days.  As an added bonus this year Bonfire Catering, who specialize in wood oven pizza, will be at the market every week.

Now in its third year, the UTSC Farmers’ Market offers a unique opportunity for local farmers, producers and artisans to connect directly with the community. They also get to share information about the benefits of buying locally grown, healthy food.

"One of my favourite things about the market is challenging students, staff and faculty to think about where their food is coming from. The market is great because you get to meet the person responsible for growing the food you are about to eat,” adds Cox.

The UTSC Farmers’ Market takes place every Wednesday starting June 6, from 3 to 7 p.m. in outer parking lot #4.
