Food truck frenzy engulfs campus

For one day UTSC unbuckled, indulged and celebrated its love of mobile food.

The event, called Food Truck Eats - U of T Edition, welcomed four unique food trucks to UTSC on March 29 offering a wide range of culinary delights for campus foodies to indulge.

The event was inspired by the very successful Food Truck Eats event at the St. George campus earlier in the semester.

“After that event we had so many students contact us asking if we were going to do the same thing at UTSC,” says Billi Jo Cox, project coordinator for UTSC’s Office of Business and Administration. She says when news hit that a similar event would take place on the UTSC campus it went viral on Twitter and Facebook.

The trucks that participated in the event included: Toasted Tangerine, offering two gourmet sandwich selections as well as their always popular toasted ravioli; Bonfire Catering, offering a range of menu items including their delicious wood fired pizza; Caplasky’s, which specialize in deli sandwiches and poutine; and last but not least the Cupcake Diner that featured a variety of mouth-watering cupcakes.

Cox says if the UTSC event is a popular draw the plan will be to hold another one in the near future. If Thursday’s turnout is any indication expect more mobile food to roll into campus soon.
