Laura Matthews moves on to CIFAR

Laura Matthews

Laura Matthews has left her role as director of communications & public affairs at UTSC to take up a new position as director of marketing & communications with the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR).

Laura was at UTSC for 3.5 years, and in that time made a significant impact on the profile and communications infrastructure of the campus. She led the production of our Annual Reviews, forged a new direction for the campus recruitment Viewbook, and launched UTSC’s new magazine, UTSC Commons, which has been extremely well-received.

Laura also led the strategy development and creation of UTSC’s new identify program, establishing a “brand framework” of messages and visual graphics to help distinguish our campus story in the U of T system and across the university sector. Most recently, Laura led the redevelopment plans for the UTSC website that will better align UTSC’s online presence with our exciting identity program.

“Laura’s leadership and dedication to UTSC will be missed,” says Andrew Arifuzzaman, Chief Strategy Officer at UTSC. “Her efforts have been critical in creating a legacy of outstanding communications vehicles, a compelling new identity for our campus and an accomplished team of professionals. Laura will be a great asset for CIFAR.”

The recruitment process for Laura’s successor will begin immediately.
