On May 7, University of Toronto Scarborough students from the Let's
Talk Science program will join the Toronto Zoo in bringing science to
life. The event is a part of Science Rendezvous, the national day of
festivities celebrating science across Canada.
UTSC volunteers will lead activities and displays to encourage young
Zoo visitors to think about what makes animals so amazing and unique
through the prism of science. Children will explore how a
hummingbird heart beats 1,260 times per minute, how proper nutrition
is very important for the gorilla troop, and many other interesting
scientific facts about animal life at the Zoo. Faculty member
Ken Welch will join the group to talk about his exciting research
findings on hummingbirds.
Look for our Science Rendezvous station at the Conservation Guest
Centre next to the IndoMalaya Pavilion, from 11 am to 3 pm.
