Gordon Cressy Awards Nominations Due December 1st!

The 2007 Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Awards

The University of Toronto Scarborough is home to great students.  Here’s an exciting opportunity to recognize their efforts and contributions.  The Office of Advancement invites you to submit nominations for the 2007 Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Award

The Award was established in 1994 by the University of Toronto Alumni Association (UTAA) and the Division of University Advancement to recognize undergraduate or graduate students in their final year who have made outstanding extra-curricular contributions to their college, faculty or school, or to the university as a whole.

The Award is named after Gordon Cressy, former vice-president of development and university relations, who was committed to higher education and was a strong community leader and fundraiser.  The Awards are given to students who are committed to making a difference and who have been actively involved in university affairs.

You are encouraged to submit a nomination in one of two categories: Constituency, i.e.,  college/faculty/school, or Central, i.e., university as a whole.  A nominee's contribution may take the form of any one, or a combination, of the following:

  - Leadership on committees or influence on student or university affairs

  - Improvement in the quality of life of students

  - Encouragement of fellow students to become involved in extra-curricular activities

  - Contribution to the sense of community at U of T

Volunteer service outside the university community will also be considered. Students must be in good academic standing in order to qualify.  The value of the student's contribution, rather than the office held, should be the major criterion.

Nomination forms are available in the SCSU offices; the Office of Advancement Room; or online at http://www.alumni.utoronto.ca/awards/cressy.asp . U of T Scarborough requests that at least one, and no more than three - letters of recommendation accompany the nomination package. Recommendation letters are also required for online submissions.

All completed nomination forms and accompanying materials should be returned no later than 5:00 P.M., FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1st, 2006 to the U of T Scarborough Office of Advancement - Room AA415 (Arts and Administration building).  Further information can be obtained by contacting Roger Francis at 416-287-5631 or francis@utsc.utoronto.ca.
