Donor Appreciation Night features a hot-and-spicy cooking seminar

Dean and vice-principal (academic) Rick Halpern and professor Dan Bender (Canada Research Chair, cultural history & analysis) are not just academics. They proved that and more during the Muslim Foodways in Chinese Cooking event at Rex’s Den on February 10. The talented duo provided a food demonstration, talk and history of food – explaining the Muslim influence on Chinese cooking – for over 80 donors and alumni volunteers.

The event celebrated the numerous alumni volunteers who continuously donate their time and energy to alumni programs, and for the “friends” of UTSC whose generous donations support the campus in a variety of ways.

Menu items served up by the dean and professor duo included house fried lamb and beef dumplings, sesame pancakes and curry beef.
