Taking a Position and Developing Strong Arguments

Taking a Position and Developing Strong Arguments is a debate game designed to help students practice the skills needed in order to present an argument effectively. Players will be given interesting topics around which they have to develop arguments and present those arguments within their debate teams. Students will brainstorm ideas (orally and in writing) and make short presentations (leading, rebutting, summarizing) about their arguments. Through this process, students will learn to use certain critical thinking skills and useful expressions to help formulate arguments quickly, and develop skills to better present points in persuasive ways. This game will help students approach oral and written assignments, class debates, and tutorials with more confidence.
