Visual & Performing Arts and Cultural Pluralism in the Arts presents an artist talk with Spy Dénommé-Welch followed by a performance workshop with collaborator Catherine Magowan.

Spy Dénommé-Welch is a multi-disciplinary artist and scholar who has written and produced work for theatre, short film and opera. Spy is the founder and Artistic Director of An Indie(n) Rights Reserve, an independent company that has co-produced the widely-acclaimed, Dora-nominated new opera Giiwedin, which he wrote and co-composed with Catherine Magowan.

Bassoonist, composer and arranger Catherine Magowan has been an active freelancer since 1999, and has been heard on CBC Radio Two both as a musician and composer/arranger. As well as holding principal positions with the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Sinfonietta, and the Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra, Catherine continues to work regularly in "The 401 Circuit".
