Volunteers Needed - Green Initiative Planting Days

DIG IN with the University of Toronto Scarborough & Evergreen Canada

Volunteers are needed to participate in planting trees and shrubs for the Green Initiatives.  Go ahead...get your hands make our campus beautiful!

The University of Toronto Scarborough and Evergreen Canada announced their partnership in a Green Initiative program on Thursday, September 28, 2006.

The partnership will involve a program of environmental restoration and educational projects that will enhance the natural environment of the campus, provide unique hands-on experiential learning opportunities for students,  and engage the broader community in the greening of the campus.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to sign up on the intranet for one, two or all three planting days.  Planting Days are scheduled for: Oct. 5th, 21st, and 25th.

The planting will take place along the riverbank of the Highland Creek near the Miller Lash House in the valley.  Volunteers will assist in planting native tree species including Red Maple, Silver Maple, Black Willow, Eastern Cottonwood, White Cedar, Green Ash, and Grey Dogwood.  Trees, shrubs, tools and instructions will be provided.  Please dress appropriate to the weather - this is an OUTDOOR event!
