UTSC’s first annual International Development & Culture Week (in collaboration with the ISC, Department of Student Life, Arts & Sciences Co-op Office, Sustainability Office, SCSU and campus clubs) will be held from February 9th to11th, 2010. An array of exciting events have been planned, including a global photo gallery and contest, an international development themed fair with table displays and interactive activities, film screenings, and a celebration of the Lunar New Year. Events will take place in the Meeting Place and Student Centre from 12pm-3pm, and film screenings from 3-5pm in the Student Center on all three days.

The goals of ID&CW 2010 are to:

* Showcase international issues through an emphasis on concepts such as fair trade, global sustainability, and global health

* Celebrate UTSC’s diverse culture

* Raise awareness of international development issues

* Identify the impact UTSC has in Canada and abroad (through the IDS program and the research/work of UTSC faculty)

* Promote global citizenship

The week promises to be interactive, informative and enjoyable and will mark the start of an annual tradition celebrating the importance of the role of the UTSC community in the areas of international development and cultural diversity.
