Largest Class in Campus History Celebrates Spring Convocation

Graduates gather for a photo on campus

On June 7, 2004, the evening before Convocation at the St. George campus, UTSC students enjoyed a celebration closer to home. Family, friends, faculty and staff gathered in UTSC’s Meeting Place to mark the achievements of this year’s graduating class.

At the reception, graduation awards were presented to the top graduating students and some of UTSC’s finest teachers were honoured for enhancing the educational experience for students at the Scarborough Campus.

Over 200 guests shared congratulatory applause to honouachievements ofr the many achievements of the spring graduates.


SCSU President, Adam Watson, and one of U of T’s Great Minds, Salim Maherali (a 1999 UTSC Graduate), rounded out the evening by offering the graduates some inspiring and congratulatory words.

At the Convocation ceremony on June 8, UTSC Professor Kwong-loi Shun, Vice-President and Principal, delivered his first convocation address as principal to UTSC’s largest-ever graduating class. After the ceremony, the 785 UTSC Graduates received a special gift from the University of Toronto at Scarborough Alumni Association.
