GRRRLFEST 2008: March 3 - 6 International Women's Day celebration

Grrrlfest 2008: Provoke, U of T Scarborough’s annual International Women’s Day celebration.  This year, Grrrlfest takes place from March 3 to March 6.  It is four days of workshops and events appealing to a wide range of interests.

Some event highlights include:

Religion, Clothing, and Women’s Self-Determination

Monday, March 3; 5 – 7pm; AA160

This roundtable discussion features faculty, staff, and students responding to the question, “do clothing regulations in religion oppress or empower women?” from their own religious (or non-religious) perspectives.  Ask questions and participate in the discussion.  Co-hosted with Equity Matters.

Women’s Orgasms – Foreplay to Toy-play

Wednesday, March 5; 2 – 4pm; SL234 (Student Centre Scotiabank Club’s Room)

If you haven’t had an orgasm or you have them all the time, learn how to have them and make them longer and more intense.  Whether you’re masturbating or with a partner, it’s important to know what you want.  Facilitated by Renee Pilgrim from Good for Her.  All genders welcome.

Grrrlz Unplugged

Thursday, March 6, 6 – 10pm, Residence Centre

An annual event, this concert is for women performers to showcase their skills.  Hear the talent that we have at U of T Scarborough and in our surrounding community.  Performances range from bands to folk and pop music.  Begin the evening with our International Buffet and then dance the night away or chill out at our ice-cream bar.  Everything is free!  Performers include:  Magneta Lane, Olivia Mclean, Ellen Bayley, Charmaine D’Souza, and Amy Savin.
