Computer science enrollment shoots up
The number of students enrolled in UTSC’s computer science co-op program more than doubled, thanks to a strong recruitment drive in line with the university’s Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) program.
The number of first-year co-op computer science students increased from 40 last year to 90 this year, while the number of non co-op students also increased slightly from about 45.
Richard Pancer, senior lecturer in the department of computer and mathematical sciences, says that the department recruited aggressively this year and brought a number of high school classes on campus for tours. Computer science was identified under the SEM as one of the areas where the university had the capacity to enroll more students.Article categories:
