Introducing Your 2012-2013 UTSC Alumni Association Executive Committee

On April 18th, at the UTSCAA’s AGM, the 2012-2013 Executive Committee was elected. This year’s committee brings their skills and expertise from a wide range of industries to the UTSCAA. Your 2012-2013 Executive Committee members are:

Chair: Lendyl D’Souza

Vice-Chair: Kenny Yu

Director of Communications: George Fadel

Secretary: Alysha Fernandes

Directors: Johnathan Aruldason, Nicky Borland, Johnathan Kapageridis, Janna Notario, Gillian Reiss, Elliott Schwartz, Arjune Selvarajan, and Suba Thambithurai.

Through various initiatives and active membership in the Alumni Association and their constituent groups, the UTSCAA’s mandate is to engage the alumni of University of Toronto Scarborough. Just a few months into their terms, this year’s Executive has already started laying the groundwork for some exciting events and projects.

The Association will also be hosting socials and networking events that will allow you to connect with other alumni and share your knowledge with current students. Since the election of the new executive they have already assisted the Development and Alumni Relations office (DARO) with Hire Power and the Spring Reunion, and will continue to work with DARO to bring you more opportunities to develop your networks throughout the year including “Dinner with 12 Alumni”, “Classes without Quizzes” and other networking opportunities.

The Executive is also working with DARO to facilitate a new “Hall of Excellence” that will display graduating class composites. In response to the desire for a revitalization of current alumni recognition on campus the UTSCAA has also made it a priority to restore the Award Plaques that are currently on display in the Meeting Place.

Interested in getting involved with the Alumni Association? Or sharing the alumni perspective on one of the many governing bodies of UTSC? Through these positions, alumni like you can help shape the offerings and impact the association will have in serving its constituents. There are currently positions available on College Council; if you are interested in taking part please contact the UTSCAA.

As the year moves forward, to stay informed of the work the UTSCAA is completing and opportunities to volunteer, send an e-mail with the subject heading ‘UTSCAA Volunteer’.

“On behalf of the UTSCAA Executive Team, I would like to wish you the very best to you during the upcoming year, and we look forward to serving you.”—Lendyl D’Souza , OCT, B.Ed., H.B.Sc., Chair, UTSCAA
