Mental Health Awareness Month

This October, U of T Scarborough (UTSC) launches its inaugural
Mental Health Awareness Month.  Often misunderstood, mental health is something that touches everyone’s life in one way or another.  Indeed, statistics show that 1 in 5 people will be affected by mental illness.  Through a series of key events and workshops, UTSC aims to raise awareness and build community, as we work together to understand misconceptions, break down barriers and strengthen our support of mental health.

Lead by UTSC’s Department of Health and Wellness, the Department of Student Life and a committee of members that span every area of the campus, UTSC’s Mental Health Awareness Month will be marked by a number of high-profile events.  Among these, Principal Franco J. Vaccarino will give a talk on October 10th in conjunction with the launch of UTSC’s Mental Health Network, and on October 24 former Bare Naked Ladies front man Steven Page will deliver a keynote address and play live.
