Chamber Music Recital

by Andrew Hercules

After a semester of hard work and countless hours spent practicing their instruments and honing their technique, the students in the Chamber Music course at UTSC are ready to showcase their musical talents during a free evening recital.

The concert will take place on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 7:00pm in room AA 303 in the Arts & Administration Building. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend.

The Chamber Music course is now in its third year at the University of Toronto Scarborough. The focus of this course has been the study and performance of chamber music – music written for small ensembles with no conductor and which emphasizes the interplay between distinct musical lines and sounds. By focusing on individual musical ideas working together to create complex and interesting musical textures, students in the course learn how to effectively communicate with each other, to listen intently to what they and their colleagues are doing, and to clarify their musical ideas.
