UTSC English Department Open House, March 12th-March 14th
The English Department will hold its first three-day Open House, from March 12th to March 14th, to celebrate current specialists and majors, alumni, and faculty and to introduce the Department to interested students from across the Campus as well as the larger community. The event is an opportunity for current and prospective students to learn more about the English Department, its exciting course offerings in literature, film, creative writing, and critical theory, and the rich research agendas of its diverse faculty. It is also an opportunity to discover the many careers open to English specialists, majors and minors, do some crucial networking, and connect with former students.
Above all, the Open House is a chance for the Department's talented and diverse constituencies to enjoy a few hours of constructive discussions and relaxed talk together in the midst of a busy academic year. We sincerely hope you will join us!
March 12th (5:30-7:30 pm in IC130): UTSC English Alumni speak!
The panel is composed of UTSC English alumni who will speak about their experience at UTSC and the important role their English degree and acquired skills played in starting and developing their careers in teaching, professional and creative writing, administration, government, and business. This will be followed by an open Q & A session and an artistic performance. Food and refreshments will be served!
March 13th and 14th (12-2 pm, location to be announced soon):
Meet the New English Department (12-1 pm): English faculty will discuss and answer questions about the department’s exciting class offerings in literature, film, creative writing, and critical theory. They also will introduce the rich calendar of events the department hosts every year.
Coffee Mingle(1-2 pm): Get to mingle with English faculty, current students, and alumni in a casual atmosphere! Share some laughter while enjoying freshly baked muffins.
Important prizes are offered in all three sessions, and events are free and open to the public!
