How can you support UTSC’s leaders of tomorrow?

Would you agree that changing the life of a student is a pretty good return on investment? What if you could support a future clinical psychologist who will make great advances in mental health, an economist who will contribute to international welfare or an environmental scientist who will help stop global warming? Contributions to the Annual Fund enable UTSC to offer our students the opportunities and resources to become leaders of tomorrow.

Last year alone, 47 % of full-time students at UTSC relied on some type of financial aid. Donations to the Annual Fund, contribute to over 500 awards and scholarships, support professional development initiatives and mentorship programs for students and improve student research opportunities by supporting fellowships, graduate scholarships and state of the art research facilities.

With the rising cost of providing higher education, now more than ever, our alumni and friends have a pivotal role to play in helping new generations of students benefit from this distinctive campus experience. The Annual Fund ensures that we are able to meet the needs of our students, like Igor Mihajlovic, while building a strong foundation for the future.

Igor received the Plumptre Admission Scholarship, named for former UTSC Principal Professor A.F. Wynne Plumptre and supported by gifts to the Annual Fund. In receiving financial support in the form of a scholarship from the Annual Fund as he began his studies, the scholarship eased Igor’s financial burden and enabled him to excel in his academics and to participate in extracurricular activities. Igor has served as President of SOS (Students Offering Support) at UTSC which is a national program involving a network of student volunteers that provide tutorials and other types of academic support to fellow students for a nominal fee. The funds raised from the SOS program go towards sustainable development initiatives for people in developing nations. For Igor, this is one way he can make an impact and share “his love for humanity” – his philanthropic interests.  As a result of his broad opportunities at UTSC, Igor is majoring in Economics, Psychology and Neuroscience and hopes to go on to medical school in the near future.  We ask our alumni and friends to support the Annual Fund and do a public good, improve someone’s quality of life and indeed, get an immeasurable return on investment.

In recognition of our dedicated alumni and friends who have made a generous annual donation of $1,000 or more to UTSC, we have recently launched the Leader to Leader Society. As a Society member you will receive various exclusive benefits in appreciation for your generosity and commitment to providing our students with first class academic education and the broadest opportunities for success so that they can reach their fullest potential.
