Math prof Buchweitz honored
A conference will be held at Syracuse University on April 13-15, 2012 to honour mathematics professor (and former UTSC dean) Ragnar-Olaf Buchweitz on the occasion of his sixtieth birthday. The conference is called Interactions between Commutative Algebra and Representation Theory, and will feature 10 speakers.
There will also be a special session celebrating the same occasion at the Internatonal Conference on Representation of Algebras in Bielfeld, in August 2012.
"Ragnar is a leading figure internationally in the field of commutative algebra. He has had a very distinguished career," says John Scherk, UTSC’s vice-dean, undergraduate, and a professor of mathematics.
Buchweitz has been at UTSC for about 25 years, five of those years as dean.Article categories:
