Gearing up for Orientation
by Emzhei Chen
From September 6 – 9, the Scarborough Campus Students’ Union (SCSU), with the support of the UTSC Department of Student Life, will be hosting Orientation 2011- LIVE @ UTSC: Push to Start.
The first week of a new school year is a critical time for students. SCSU’s Orientation aims to provide opportunities to help incoming students transition successfully, in both academic and social spheres.
The Orientation team, with over 200 upper year students, have been planning exciting events and activities for all UTSC first year students. Some of these events include:
1. A faculty mix n’ mingle where students will be able to interact with faculty and ask questions related to their course of study
2. A carnival for students to connect with their peers and learn about FREE campus resources and supports
3. Participate in the annual tri-campus University of Toronto parade downtown that creates a sense of community and campus life
4. Day and evening entertainment: dance, hypnotist show, concert at St. George campus
This year’s theme is LIVE @ UTSC: Push to start which highlights our vibrant campus life and non-stop engagement that starts in September and continues throughout the academic year.
